BAFTA win icing on the cake of a stellar week in the UK for LazyTown

Reykjavik, 28th November 2006… On Sunday night, LazyTown was presented with the International Award at the star-studded Children’s BAFTA Awards ceremony at London’s Hilton Park Lane Hotel. Creator and star of the show Magnús Scheving was there to accept the award, delighting the audience with some onstage acrobatics.

Magnús Scheving, the founder and creator of LazyTown, last night received the EDDA Honour Award (Iceland’s equivalent to the EMMY Awards) by the Icelandic film and television Academy, the highest accolade in his native country.

Magnus Scheving, founder and creator of LazyTown was awarded the Scandinavian Public Health Prize in 2004 for his work in motivating children through the world of LazyTown.

Obesity amongst children is an increasing health problem in the Nordic countries, and Scheving works in an unconventional and innovative way to the benefit of the health and entertainment of children. In the world of LazyTown, children are motivated to live a healthy lifestyle through a combination of play and positive stimulus.

Achievements as Entrepreneur and Marketing Man:

Magnus Scheving was voted the Marketing Man of the Year In 2003 by the Icelandic Marketing Association. He was also voted Entrepreneur of the Year by Channel 2 Broadcaster and the Icelandic Financial Newspaper.
